What size Snake skins for a MacCat Standard SpinnUL Tarp

    Hello all.

I know this is running on the general formum but I didn't wanna hijack another thread.

Can anyone tell me what size Hennessy Snakeskins I'll be wanting for a OES MacCat Standard tarp in SpinnUL.

The trap arrived today (my wife found the package and has already rang me wanting to know what/why I have a tarp and why was it $140 )

The tarp should pack really small and will probably fit in the bishop bag with the hammock but I like the sound of the snakeskins for easy use.

Is there another source of snakeskins other than hennessy ??

I read online that they are only making snakeskins now in #4, will they be to big for my tarp ??

Hennessy has a patent on Snakeskins so they are the only source. And, so far as I know, they only have one size available these days (a #4). They are more than big enough for an OES tarp, maybe too big.

As an alternative, I use three velcro cable wraps from Ace Hardware that are attached to my tarp ridgeline. They let me "furl" or roll up the tarp without the weight of Snakeskins. Cheaper and lighter, too!

The #4 work fine on the tarp. Asd Beep said they are a little large though, but so far hasn't been a big issue. Oops reread your post, I have a deluxe and they're big on that.

They're big, but they still serve the purpose, I have skins on my tarp and am very satisfied with how they operate for my tarp even though they may be way to big for it.

The larger skins are actually better. They allow the tarp to move more freely within, which allows the skinned tarp to be packed more easily. The smaller skins make a tight bundle that doesn't bend well.

I will put in my 2 cents,, I have the snake skins from H.H and, a superfly tarp from warbonnet and they fit great. No problems... also have a speer tarp and again they fit great in the snakeskins. They are not to tight so you cant pack them into the stuff sack that comes with the tarp,, A+++ in my book
    just my thought on them..

I agree with that. I made my own snakeskins larger than needed. Also, I pack my skinned tarp on the outside of the pack and some air can circulate inside the furled tarp.

I've started doing the same thing. It works great on a single ridgeline setup.

+2 on the larger size. I made my own DIY from 1.1 ripstop and they are a little large from my 11x10 OES SpinnUL but I roll the tarp and carry in the outside mesh pocket also so they can air as I travel. Works fine.

Did you use any plans or diagrams to assist? I am thinking of making them myself.
