Just bought Clark 250 but have questions...

Hello all I guess this is my first post other than my introductions so I'll get to the point. I read review after review and looked at a bunch of makes of hammocks by skimming all ya'lls threads and came to the conclusion my Wal-mart hammock was okay to make me a hanger but better options exist. So I bought a new Clark 250 even though I'm only 5-10 and 175lbs for the extra room in-case of... whatever. But not sure what else to buy to go with it. I live in Arizona and hike, hunt, backpack from the low desert south to the high tall pines north. I made my own tree huggers out of curiosity and boredom and ordered the vertex and a Equinox Egret Nylon Tarp 10' X 12' and aluminum stakes, but are any Clark surprises-oddities I should be aware of and get prepared for before my next hike in a week? Any and suggestions are appreciated, thanks in advance.

Before I went hiking/backpacking with my Clark (or any new hammock for that matter) I set it up and took it down, over and over and over again, in my backyard. I also tried (once!!) setting it up on the ground, for that "just in case" situation. I tried different heights on the tree, different trees, different distances apart, trees that looked to close, trees that looked to far apart, in the rain, in the wind, and then started timing myself to see how fast I could get the tarp up. Any practice you can get in with your new hammock will help you to not have any "surprises" when you don't want them.

I use a stuff sack for my NX150, and stuff the foot end in first, so during set up I know which is the head end,
this way I will have the orientation correct as I set it up.

When ever you lay in it; do not EVER wear your Boots/Runners inside.
(Post to follow as to why)

NEVER stow ground stakes or metal parts inside same stuff sack.
(Post to follow as to why)

NEVER drag it on the ground to change it end for end.

I will post later but briefly I ended up with a half dozen small holes at my foot end on the underside.
I will receive it back this week from Clark,
as I sent it to them for repair.
I figured that was the best option.

I have no idea if the suggestions above were the cause but . . .

I'm still waiting for it to arrive and was told it would be here a day before I leave, crossing my fingers I would prefer to use it over my old wal-mart one... But I plan on setting it up the day before I leave to atleast put a water repelent spray on the weather shield. And yes I was planning on taking both the vertex and 10x12 on the trip its a short hike inbound is only 6 miles uphill and about 5 miles downhill out. And I like the stuff sack idea and might try a compression sack to save space unless somebody screams bad idea. And totaly didn't think about not putting stakes with it. Thanks for the tips.... anybody have thoughts on the overshell zippers I hear they get tough to use if you make the hammock to tight and with my old hammock I prefered a real tight hang so I could stay lower to the ground with the shepheard pup... Afraid to put her in the hang with me.

I think it is a good idea, just haven't done it yet.

When I am about to enter, whether it is the no-see-um netting or the weather guard,
I zip the off side, up, all the way from the foot to what would be the ridge line eyelet,
that way I can see right away if the hang is to tight or not.

I always try to hold the not zipped part closed or close as I zip it up.
Probably less strain on zipper parts and seams.
