packing up

Ok, so I looked around, and didn't find anything dealing with this, so my question is. How do you guys pack up your hammock?

In videos I've seen rolling it up, snake skins, just stuff sacking. How do you do it, and why?

I just tidy up my cordage and stuff it into a dry bag. Why ? ... because it's easy

Tom Hennessy came out with the snakeskins so you can slide them up and when you start to tie off from the tree, you can start to coil up the hammock so it does'nt hit the ground. Warbonnet has a bishop bag which is double ended so you can stuff the hammock in one side as you walk and stuff toward the other tree. Stuff sacks are also good. What I do is to sling the hammock over my shoulder so it doesn't touch the ground and I stuff as I walk to the next tree, just like the warbonnet bishop. I like the bishop bag style myself. This works for me the best. And Welcome to the forum!

1. Put trash compactor bag into pack
2. Put clothes, quilts, and hammock into compactor bag

It easy and takes us less space than putting everything into their own stuff sacks.

Since the tarp is probably wet (or at least damp), it goes into snake skins and is stored in an exterior mesh pocket of my pack.

I just stuff mine into a stuff sack, wrap my suspension around it, and into my pack it goes!

I bishop bag my BB. I'll throw the suspension in both sides and pull it tight! The BB is very compressible and can be packed easily too. My brother has an awesome set up. He bishops his BB and he snakeskins his tarp, that way the tarp can be set up above the hammock without behind "set up". Then if it rains you can easily pull the tarp out of the snakeskin. I like the idea.

i twist my 2 tieouts of my blackbird around my hammock, sort of "furling" it. it makes for easier deployment in windy conditions...

then i unhook 1 side of my hammock from the tree, and jam it into my bishop sack while walking towards the other tree. my hammock stays off the ground this way (if there's poison, jaggers, or mud)...

My tarp is in snakeskins and gets rolled inside of a section of Thermarest Ridgerest that is only about two feet long. The hammock gets stuffed into the a BlackBishop bag with the straps. Marlinspikes and stakes go in a separate bag to prevent puncturing any other gear. I tried rolling the hammock neatly, but it usually becomes more difficult to stuff into the sack.
