HH Typhoon tarp & Deep Jungle hammock

Here are some pictures of the new "Typhoon" tarp system that Hennessy is selling. This was my first attempt at setting it up so I only used the two stakes I normally set out for spreading the hammock. However this tarp has a lot of tie out points and you could use a stake with each one if needed. It is a free standing tarp that is initially tied to the trees along the ridge line and is not attached to the hammock. And at each tie out point there are two available shock cords, a short one with a clip so it can be attached to a stake when you want to batten down, and a second much longer cord if you are attaching to trees. For each set of cords there is a pocket on the tarp for the cords to be stuffed into. There aren't any directions yet or pictures of a properly set up Typhoon on the Hennessy website so this is an approximation. Also the doors at each end are separate and are attached to the tarp when needed.

    Could you list it's dimensions??
My knife is so sharp it cut the sixth finger off my right hand! On the plus side, Inigo Montoya no longer hunts me.

the dimensions are 130 inches at the ridge line and 95 inches at its widest part and tapers to 70 inches on either side at the next tie outs. I did these measurements here in the living room and the tarp was not setup so these are approximate. Maybe if you email Hennessy they would have the official measurements.

Is there a secret place on their website that I cannot find. I'd like to take a serious look at this thing, but they are hiding it pretty well.

Yes, the doors are attached at the sides with velcro. There's a small ring on the tarp to which the top of the door is clipped and a tie out on the bottom to keep it taunt. I don't know the exact cost of the Typhoon. It was an upgrade from the standard and it is polyurethane coated. The sil-nylon version is cheaper. About the garda hitch; Your video is great and sold me on it. Though, in my first attempt at setting it up I ran into trouble by using rings that were made of steel and too thin (I was trying to do this as economical as possible). When tension was applied the rings acted like scissors and eventually the covering of the spectra cord was cut. I switched over to the thicker Omega Pacific rings and they work very well and there has been no effect on the cord that I can see.
