I never said it couldn't be done at all, Cannibal...I said the numbers don't work for a 30° hang. How well does your WB hang in there, and is the RL tight?

Sorry, there should have been one of these "" after this one . I was just being a smart-alack; it's what I do.

I honestly haven't hung it in there. The ENO was the first time I tried to hang a camping hammock in that room. Just Mayans and Brazilians, which is the purpose for which it was built. However, based on how the ENO was hung, my guess is the RL would be loose. Like I said, an easy solution would be to anchor the chain to a wall stud near the the floor. Better yet, anchor to the floor right next to the wall. That would be a very sturdy anchor system. If the bolts were 12' apart, even if you factor in a bit of a bend in the chain, you'd still probably have 10' between hammock attachment points when the hammock is loaded.

I've got a drill, some eyebolts, and a weekend. I might just do that tomorrow and hang a Bird to see what kind of results I get.

I knew you were being a smart-aleck... I have a well developed case of it myself!!

No need to do any remodeling on my account...was just curious if you'd done it and what the result was.

I'm going to be moving into a 16' x 16' room in the very near future here on base .... I was planning on going wall-to-wall at 16', but if I can go diagonally from the ceiling, that would work too...so I'm interesting in what people come up with.

Well let's see. I have to tend to my gardens for an hour or so, which I totally enjoy. After that my choices are:

    A. Clean-up the pasture. In layman's terms, scoop donkey doo
    OR
    B. Drill some holes, get some longer chains, and lay in a hammock.

So I ask you, which option would you choose? I'm going to go ahead and pick "B".

That's pretty much what I was thinking to begin with, but I think taking the line down the to the floor (or close) would be a bit more secure. Maybe incorporating another anchor point where you indicated would help spread the load even more. Three anchor points have to be better than one, right?

Then again, I was one of those kids that had to actually touch the stove to learn that they are hot. I tend to act in lieu of thinking, but I'm working on it.

I'd like to see pics or a youtube brief vid on your new hangup, Can. I would not like to see anything that has to do with donkeys, or their doo. (unless you can get a donkey in your hammock in the livingroom. Then, I'm all eyes!)

Genuine Draft would be thrilled to try. She's been trying to get me to let the Boys in the house almost since the day we got them. Oh well, she's awfully cute.

I'll post a video of the hammock rigging tomorrow if I get it done. Shouldn't be a problem.

Actually, it didn't happen this weekend. I got a bit side-tracked. I'll try to remember to do it tonight. Sorry.
