    Climashield XP Multi-quilt

    Just finished my synthetic "multi-quilt".

2 layers of Climashield XP .6", (should be good down to around 20F). 42" x 72" rectangle, sewn with grosgrain loops on the corners to hang as an underquilt, and channels with 550 paracord to either cinch up as a top quilt or cinch up the ends for the underquilt. I was trying to make the size 'just' fit, with very little extra. I don't roll around much when I'm sleeping in the hammock. There are more pictures here.

And it's reversible, so if I need more stealth , I can "fade to black".

its cooling off again so soon you should be able to test its cold temp rating

out of curiosity how much did that climashield material cost?

2 yards of Climashield XP from Thru-hiker was 25.40 (7.50 of that was shipping.)

Then I decided I wanted it warmer, and ordered another round, and paid for shipping again (ouch). So the total for the insulation (with 15.00 total of shipping --ouch!) was 50.80.

I took it on the chin a bit there, but finally got what I wanted.

Great stuff, that quilt looks store bought. You have done a wonderful job with it.
Have you had chance to do any outdoor testing yet?

    Thank you very much.

No, I haven't gotten to take it outside yet. I wanted to finish it by this past weekend, but didn't get the final things done until yesterday afternoon. I'll take it to the backyard this coming weekend. It's supposed to be in the low 40's F then.

    stealth quilt

I like camo, I like black, I very much like warm....nice quilt!

What's the weight of the camo, and where did you get it? The only on-line source I've found where the listing specifies weight, and that the fabric is uncoated, is seattefabrics.com. 1.9 oz uncoated.

    Thanks!

The camo seems to be slightly lighter than 1.9, uncoated, maybe 1.5 or so??? I got it at Hancock Fabrics locally. I don't have a scale (although I looked for one this weekend at Harbor Freight, to no avail) so I don't know for sure.

    The black is 1.9 DWR.

Nice looking quilt Patrick. I can't wait to hear how it performs.

Thanks headchange, I took ideas from your Neat-Sheet multiquilt to make this thing.

I need to talk to you about how you sew channels. (I put them on afterwards -- which was very difficult).
