    Triptease Tarp ridgeline?

On my first "hang" I used the Kelty triptease line as a ridge line for my tarp.
I basically copied "Opies" ridge line using figure9's and prussiks.
My concern is that Kelty recommends that you DO NOT use their line to go over a tree branch (as in the PCT bear bag hang) because of its abrasiveness. Should I hang my tarp under the ridge line to prevent this or not.

IMO, you should always hang the tarp under the ridgeline.

I also hang mine under the ridge line a majority of the time. With that said hanging your tarp over the triptease ridge line should present no problems or undue wear. IMO Kelty's warning applies to the rubbing action of the line while being pulled at a sharp angle over a limb whose bark presents an abrasive surface.

I have some cord that is similar to Triptease that came with some Figure-9's. It snapped under tension from wind when I used it as a ridgeline. I can't be sure that it is the same specifications as Triptease, but I wouldn't use Triptease for a ridgeline. What I do now is attach small sections, much like water diverters, so that I get the reflective qualities.

I used triptease for several seasons with my superfly. Have hung it above and below the the ridge line without visible wear from either. The nylon sheath would be abrasive to a tree if you are pulling a weight over a branch (as in a bear bag). Not an issue with a tarp.

Triptease has a break strength of 188#. Spectra core. It is plenty strong for tarp ridge lines and guy lines

I use Triptease for my over the top ridgeline and corner tie-outs. No issues with the line at all. I wrap one end around the tree clipping off with a #1 SS S-biner and a figure-9 for the other end to tighten.

Thanks for all the replies, I think I'm going to the "over the tarp ridge line".
Once again Thanks and a Woooobuddy to Shug (I feel so humble)
