I've spent so much time building my pirogue that I haven't spent any time finishing my Bridge Hammock.
Anyway, I want to try the non-spreader version of this thing. What size and how much Spyderline should I buy to do this right?

I've been fine with 2.8mm spyderline, with one exception, where it snapped at a knot. The bridge was in spreaderless configuration, tightened way down, and I wasn't present, so I don't know the circumstances. Because of that though I got 3.8mm for the main suspension (from the top of the suspension triangle to the tree).
by the numbers
ridgeline : 16 ft should do. Doesn't need to be spyderline, but I use 2.8mm.
suspension triangles : 4 x 4.5 ft = 18 ft, 2.8mm.
side tie-outs : the flatter you can make these lines, the less stress on them. Figure 4 x 8' = 32'.
That's a total of 16+18+32 = 66 ft.
A mini-spool from Annapolis Performance Sailing has 75' for $22.95 + shipping (shipping is steep though).

p.s. (later edit) the tie-outs are not butt-critical and would not need spyderline. Any rope that is good to say, 200 lbs, should be fine there, snapped knot not withstanding (I think there was wind involved in that incident. Or malicious neighborhood kids).

Cool, thanks. And I assume you're still using snow stakes for the tie outs?
In this post you will see how I used 2 9" carbon stakes from Titanium Goat (link in that post) at the end of the tie-out. These stakes are amazingly light, 0.25 oz each. Less prone to bend also than the snow stakes. The down-side is price, $15 for 5, you'll need 8. If it turns out that 2 stakes per corner isn't enough you can add as needed with very low impact on weight.
