    Good luck!

I've been a Yeti guy for a long time and quite honestly, it's the perfect quilt for me. There really isn't anything about them that I don't like or find lacking, but that's me. During the past year, I've had the opportunity to at least fiddle with a Te-wa and a Crowsnet. I liked them both very much. Both were of comparable quality to the Yetis (which is saying a lot) and looked like excellent designs. I don't have any experience with their actual use, but I was impressed with both of them.

New quilts are in the budget for 2011. I plan to buy 3 new quilts next year and two of them are being discussed here. The other one will be my first synthetic in a couple of years.
    Trust nobody!

VIDEO: CrowsNest 3 Season Underquilt Review.

The crowsnest packs down really tiny. I think I could get it down to the size of a large grapefruit. I wouldn't store it at that size but, I could be packed to that size for a while.

It does come with its own stuff sack. Mine is black.

Since you are searching the fractional UQ.... JRB also has the 2/3 UQ full radial baffles... 20 *.... Also it is convertible to full length either at the time of purchase or later with the adddition of the JRB MW3C compliment.... Best part is like all JRB quilts they are in stock.

Wow, with all the mountains of praise for all 3 gear makers you guys haven't made my decision one bit easier! What I'm thinking at this point is the following: I'm leaning toward the Crowsnest because it seems like it may be the quilt out of those 3 that I'd most easily be able to take down to lower temps this winter, assuming I wear lots of clothes and maybe add some kind of liner, etc. Also, since my winter activities will include mostly shorter hikes, etc. I'm thinking the extra 2-5 ounces may not be quite as big a deal to me then. HOWEVER, in terms of the weight issue I'm definitely going to get one of the others probably before the end of the winter. Now that I have 2 hammocks, and I don't think the wife and I are going to be able to sleep in one together, I've got to get us both set up (the whoopies and tree huggers for the second hammock just came in the mail today!!).

Thanks for all the reassurance. I'll post once I've gotten one and tried it out!

PS - I'm sure glad I didn't mention the Peapod in my original post. That might've opened up a whole other can of worms....

The three suppliers you named are all top-notch, and, there's a fourth to keep in the running. Jacks-R-Better makes good stuff, are active and long-time HF supporters and members, and can usually ship from inventory.

We are blessed with our choices.

Everyone mentioned in this thread makes stellar, top-notch stuff. Stormcrow, Te-Wa, Warbonnet, Jacks. You almost literally cannot make a bad decision no matter which you choose. I've seen all of them and I own an early Stormcrow winter UQ. All are great.
And just to muddy the waters a touch more, I own a KAQ from Arrowhead Equipment and it's a great piece.... in case you wanted to consider synthetic instead of down. I like it for wet weather trips.

I currently have 2 te-wa 3/4 UQ's and they are great. Trying to sell 1 to help fund my newly purchased 3 season incubator and 3 season burrow

Another thing to consider - customization. I'm sure all 3 will let you know what mods they do/don't make. I worked with te-wa and he was absolutely fantastic. Added a little length, added a lot of width, overstuffed the down. Still kept on eye on the weight since that was a concern and the extra work and down was very, very reasonably priced. A buddy ended up ordering a clone a few weeks later it works so well.

Honestly couldn't be happier with this UQ. Never had a cold night & no colds spots for this XXL sleeper.
