    Double Bottom

I made this stake bag as one of my first sewing projects. I gave it a double bottom to make it stronger where the points of the stakes will be so it wouldnt damage any surrounding gear.

Made some toggles out of a section of carbon fiber X/C ski poles. The DIY Shepard hook & my new Ti V stakes fit inside the toggles which are carried in a DIY nylon stake bag. Some days I look at this package and think why carry it at all. Just make a set of toggles and stakes at site. You are lugging around a 5oz bush knife.

I bought some Sea-To-Summit stuffsacks once, and found that the plastic sleeve/sheath that the bags came packed in makes the perfect stake carrier. It is more durable and puncture resistant than a fabric bag, weighs very little, and recycles something that would otherwise have been trash.

It slips easily just about anywhere in my pack (or dry bags) and I don't worry about the stakes puncturing anything. I've been using the same one for about 2 years.

Pic is of a large one, but the ones from 4L or 8L bags work great.

I use an old nylon knife sheath that my Leatherman came in.

I use an ALOKSAK storage bag that I had around already (http://tinyurl.com/32b2phz) the thick plactic means I dont have to worry about my MSR groundhogs poking through. It also slides easily between my gear and the inside of my pack.

I use a Courda sheath that came with an old mag lite. It fits 4 shepherd hooks well and I think I could cram in maybe 2 more

Son of a...I just thru those out last month! Oh well guess I gotta get more.

I'm still looking for the corigated plastic sign material (used for elections and reality signs, all private property so you can't just pick one up from anywhere). Cut a piece that is longer than your steaks and shove each steak into it's own hole. I saw it somewhere on the internet but a corigated cardboard box was used.

Same for me with the titanium shepherd's hooks, but I've found it convenient to use a small piece of water tubing to hold them together and keep the sharp tips safe.
