    Aquasimple vs Katahdin Base Camp

What's the advantage? Is it purely weight and supporting a cottage vendor? - both noble pursuits.

I'm thinking of picking up a KBC since the AS is currently off the shelf. Pricing is close and looks like the weight penalty for the BC is 3oz or so.

    Thanks.

I have not seen the Aquasimple but I have seen the Katahdin. The BC is built like a tank. The material is solid and the nice thing is that the filters just snap in.

I am told that the real difference between the two is the weight factor. The bag for the AS is silnylon.

I am trying as hard as I can to hold off for the Aquasimple.

If you really want the Base Camp, I have one that I can send you. It has had about 15 gallons of mountain water and tap water run through it.

I was going to get the AS (Since I have a Hiker Pro and spare filter) but heard he was re-designing the it?
Maybe he will have another SALE on "Old version"

Has anyone heard what improvements he might make?

I have a Aquasimple and I "LOVE IT"! I have paired it with the sawyer filter, the one that filters "ALL" the nasties!
It's not only lighter, you are supporting one of our great cottage makers (Paul), also it takes up less room in the pack, did I mention that it was made and sold by one of our cottage guy's ( PAUL )!
Now come's the conundrum, at the moment I do not think he is selling them as he is revamping the design, hopefully Paul will chime in and give a little more insight?!?!?!?!
