    Question

If you go to the "The Ogee Tarp" thread started by Gargoyle you can veiw many of the setup options for both the single and double hammock set-up. There are many pictures to view and HawkEye and Gargoyle have both made videos that you can review.

Some of the things that I like about this tarp, is that it is lieghtweight, sets up in many ways, set-up can be with just two stakes or ten...you choose which one will get the job done for you. I carry my tarp on the outside of my backpack, so that is ready for rapid deployment if needed (rainshower), and with the two stake/diamond shape it can be setup in about 3-4 minutes easily.

I have other tarps that are large , and while they give a good amount of coverage they are not so adaptable to the space you are using, either because of size , shape, or obstructions. With the Ogee tarp you have many, many set-up options.

That is easily said, but until you see it in action you just can't wrap your head around the concept. I have talked with others and we have talked about the times that a large conventionally shaped tarp is actually wrapped around a tree to get the job done. Remember a tarp dwelling is only temporary, but sometimes your options are limited to what is there. It is at these times that having as many options available to you really come into play.

Thanx BC. The Ogee is already on my shortlist of tarps. I know he offers up to a 12 foot ridgeline. Would you recommend this?

Anybody recommend any other models for 2 hammocks?
    Superfly? MacCat Ultra?

    Perrito,
PM Gargoyle and ask him all of the questions you want to. He will be able to give much more design feature reasoning than I. Just remember that a long ridgeline length can be a downside sometimes if the tarp is limited in it's setup options.

The last time I was at Randy's place (about 3 weeks ago) he did mention the double hammock issue, and that he had some ideas that he was maybe going test out concerning the ridgline setup. But then again anyone interested in finding out more information would be better served by PMing Gargoyle himself.

i did a weekend long trip on the AT this summer with my Noah's tarp 9 and had a double set up. It was giligan's island style (one hammock set up above the other on the same two trees). This set up worked fine

I do it with the MacCat Standard so I see no reason the SuperFly wouldn't work.

Whenever I take my kids backpacking, we often group under one tarp, stacking the hammocks. Sometimes this is nice, and sometimes it is nice to be a few feet away.

Well, it looks like I might have to try out this double hang and see if it works for me. Thanks for the idea guys!
