What do I need to look for in a thread injector

Trying to decide about getting a thread injector. The only thing I know about them is that Wallyworld sells them starting at about $80.

What features should I look for ?

Should I buy new or used ?

What brands should I stay away from or consider ?

    Any input would be appreciated.

I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

The Rev has some great advise in his thread - check it out.

I got lucky on a steel and brass bohemoth from the 50's. I did end up getting it serviced by a pro after buying so my $30 bargain ended up an $80 bargain and I have a machine that will do anything I could ask. Having said that, look in the yellow pages for sewing machine repair and call a few a nd ask if they have any older quality machines for sale. My repair guy had a couple of old Singers that would be great machines for $80 and there was no risk because they were already serviced...
