This is a pic of recent pathetic attempt to hang my new blackbird. The head is on the right. The ridgeline is WAY too tight...what am I doing wrong?

I think with trees that far apart you will want the tree straps a LOT higher. That should help your ridgeline relax (and remember, it is OK and sometimes preferable to have the foot a bit higher than the head).

From your photo, it appears that you don't have enough "sag". The straps should be around 30 degrees from horizontal. With trees as far apart as shown in the picture, the point of tree connection has be much higher to get the 30 degree hang.
It's a lot easier to pitch it right if your trees are about 15' to 17' apart. Further than that and your straps will be almost out of reach on the trees.

I agree with beep and EAY...... trees to far .... straps up higher.

Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
Yup, agree with all above
The rig I have at home for testing gear at home is very similar so I don't pay much attention to the ridge until I get out. As a guide try looking for trees about six paces apart, seems to work for me
What they said, find closer trees 15-20 feet apart = Perfect
Ambulo tua ambulo.
Thanks guys I gotta get back out there in a few and try again. The trees in the pick are about 20' + apart and I don't know if it makes a difference but this is a sloped hill and the tree on the left is lower than the right.
I kept trying to compensate adjusting the straps, raising and lowering them. Its hard to tell but the straps on the tree on the right are probably 8+ feet already. Need to try the 6 pace distance
Anything wrong with it other than a tight ridgeline? If that's the only problem...there isn't a problem.

Does the blackbird have a structural ridgeline?
If so (or ones with structural ridgelines in general), can you ever hang it "wrong".
