nice tarp! I've yet to get a diy to look that tight. Could you explain what a cat cut is? I web searched and got a bunch of sites about shaving your cat.

I didn't know Walmart sold SilNylon....I'll have to check that out..... Nice looking tarp!
RwillieK, they rarely sell it these days. You might find some ripstop but in my travels, I haven't seen sil there in a long time.

Walmart changed their fabric dept. in TN. No more $1 bin. What's a cat cut?
Short for Catenary. It's a type of curve you see on tarps to create a more taught tarp than some of the sag you get with a traditional square or rectangle tarp. And because they're the authority... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catenary

Great looking tarp.... I was lucky enough to pick up 8 yds a couple weeks ago at Wally World... $1.50 yd...
Instead of a triangle or straight line that would not tension or flap in the wind, look at the picture and you will see a clear curve to the support triangle or tye off.
They don't, the stuff shows up and is buried, one has to look for it.
See above.
There was an Old Man with a owl,
Who continued to bother and howl;
He sat on a rail, And imbibed bitter ale,
Which refreshed that Old Man and his owl.WOO
Thanks guys. Can anyone point me to a diagram so I can mod my tarp?
havnt found the diagram yet but knotty mentions it works best when always at the same pitch. I change mine by tying out to a walking stick before hang time. I guess this isn't the way for me.

Nice tarp,,, I think I recognize those woods,,,
I'm pretty new here also, Grok.
I've found that the search function is my best friend.
As creative as I sometimes think I am, I have yet ask a question that hasn't already been discussed, usually multiple times.
I searched the DIY forum only for "caternary" and found this recent thread that might interest you:

Not trying to discourage questions... I ask questions frequently myself.
Just suggesting that a quicker way to get the info you want might be hiding right in front of you.
