    Universal Snugfits All Gone

Called Speer to try and buy one today and they are all gone; only the Speer hammock specific versions are left. Very disappointed as I'd finally settled on this as my first UQ for my Blackbird. I really like the design of the suspension on the Snugfit as it looked pretty foolproof and easy to detach and reattach in the exact some position.

Anyone have suggestions for a close cousin of the Snugfit?

Get the Speer model; it'll work just fine. Ours is a Speer model and Genuine Draft uses it almost exclusively on her Blackbird. If it really bugs you, just remove the Velcro.

Thanks, Cannibal. I wasn't sure if that was the only difference or if there were others between the Universal and Speer variants. If I can just remove the velcro and find a willing thread-injector operator, can I pretty much turn it into the Universal model? Anyone one have close-up shots of the tabs on the universal model? I also read a suggestion in another thread about using grip clips to help hold up the Speer model. Might try that as well rather than sew the tabs on.

We've never had need for the tabs anyway. Nice thing about the SnugFit, and the like, is the ability to get it good and snug against the hammock without compression problems. I was disappointed when I realized I got the wrong quilt for the same reasons you are concerned. I also decided I would just mod it at the next hostel with a thread injector. By the time I got there, I realized there was no need. But as always, YMMV.

I think you'll find it's not necessary to mod it at all. The tabs aren't really needed.

Thanks all! Ordered the Speer version today. Ed was great to work with on the phone and he's including some loop material to have in case I do want to modify it in the future.
