New Years Eve party on the island? Could be an alternative tradition to Ed Speer's Spring Mountain hang for those of us who can't make the drive. The 31 is on a friday this year. Could get out to the island on thursday for a 4-day weekend. So long as the weather stays in the 40's, the oysters won't really need any refrigeration. They'd need to be washed though. Mayhaps Muskrat could talk to his family about using their boat.

    Killing Me ! ! ! ! !

December... potential Pisgah Hang with Hanging Burrito and Running Feather.
January.... the infamous and MUST ATTEND Mt Rogers hang. AND.... if memory serves me correctly there's a holiday or two there somewhere.

Now... talking Feb and later, we can game plan for.

You are killing me too !

Ok...unfortunately my wife is working at the hospital Thanksgiving Eve & New Years Eve this year. Which leaves me at home with my girls. Another New Year's Eve without my "Mrs." due to hospital scheduling . . . although she did have the 4th of July off and will have Christmas off so I don't have too much to complain about.

    Ya'll plan on and I'll just be envious . . .

Oh yeah ! They camp. However, until they are old enough to understand how to layer appropriately for cold weather and avoid coming home sick with a cold or flu, momma holds the trump card, its the ER nurse in her. December - March? Ain't happening. Not even worth dscussing. See, Dad will dress them appropriately for the weather butdespite my best efforts, they'll come home, catch a cold, and it will be the camping trip's fault. I'm sure you know how the rest of that story goes.

Best bet for me to get out then is to have a weekend where my wife is not scheduled to work AND we don't have a gymnastics meet to attend. Spring and summer will be the best time for me to get to the island. I also have to work in trips to the Foothills Trail and the AT, which I missed out on this year.

Its a complicated camping schedule I try to keep up with. It either works or it doesn't.

Sitting here, reading all this is killing me.

Lets put the Pisgah hang on the map!

I'll do some recon this week (excuse to hike )

Well. . . . maybe need to move this topic to a new thread but we can do that after have some specifics. Just fyi . . . looks like the only weekend I may have available is the weekend before Christmas. Not sure how convenient that is for everyone else, tough time of the season to be gone.

Keep me updated on the pisgah hang if you don't mind. Come december, I may be looking for an excuse to get out as well. Muskrat, if you end up going and need a side kick, I can throw in for gas.
