I am not new to camping or backpacking. But spent most of my camping in a tent. Spent many summers sleeping in a hammock on the sides of the White River in AR while trout fishing when I was younger, but that was in a fine mesh hammock I bought in Mexico (which is extremely comfortable but weighs about 10 lbs! HA). I stumbled accross Jeff's site and decided i would like to try hammock camping again! I read where some of the problems i had when i was younger had been solved by others aka Bug Protection (I live in south MS, we have LOTS of them) and staying warm and dry. I have gotten my wife into this too, and originally bought a Hammock Bliss Triple size for the both of us to sleep in (worked good, except the later part of the night after we needed to move and were pinched together!) Now I make most of our gear including speer style hammocks and homeade underquilts! I like making my own gear and borrowing ideas (thanks everyone) from others and modifying them to what I need! I am going to try to post instructions of a cheap, fairly light underquilt that i have come up with, but most likely in another thread. I will prob try to link it here....if i can figure it out!
