    Orange vs. Green Dynaglide

Ok, I know I've see the thread about this somewhere. I never have been able to successfully search on here.

I've heard alot of issues about the vinyl coating becoming sticky or simply coming off of the orange dynaglide.

I'm in the middle of a debate with myself about purchasing orange/green dynaglide or sticking with AMSteel and picking a color.

Usually I am more concerned about utility then appearance, but I haven't been able to settle the debate. I'm to the point where other perspectives are needed.

    Amsteel colors rub off, too.

Some of the Dynaglide I have gotten is a bit like that, was always the orange until this last batch I got, now the orange is great and the green is a little tacky. Makes no difference in function or color--does not wear off, but makes splicing a little more work. I don't think that the coating process used by any of the companies that produce these sorts of lines is a perfect science.

It is not so much the color rubbing off, that I am worried about. I am very familiar with blue fingers.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I realize that heat during storage or transport might have been a contributing factor in this as well. I had simply been stuck in a debate over going with the orange which I like, or the green which I really don't like bright green.

While I know it's purely a vanity issue, I still couldn't let it go.

I use gray Amsteel and have not had an issue with the color coming off (yet).

After handling a few hundred feet of it every day, it dose give off some dye, not so much that you can see it on the line but I still have greyish black tar on my hands from it just like the other colors. Grey amsteel and green dynaglide have the least issues though of any of the line I use.

That is my other thing. I'm not a gram weenie. Well atleast I don't go around counting them, but when I have an opportunity to save weight, I'm all for that. I've normally got some pretty heavy camera gear that I like to haul around on occasion and if I can cut the weight down on my gear, it makes carrying the camera equipment that much less of a pain.

I'm going to see how much I have left over after getting my UQ and TQ and order me some line.
