    San Onofre beach

Took a trip with the scouts down to San Onofre beach last weekend for a bike ride and to play in the surf. The boys rode from where we camped down to Oceanside and back and onto Camp Pendleton for a total of 50 miles.
The rest of the time was playing in the surf.
I was the only one to find a place to hang. It was nice to liston to the waves at night.

Great pics. Sounds like a great time!! Nothing much better than hanging in your hammock and listening to the waves.

I am so old that I was around when they used to give tours of the San Onofre Nuclear power plant. Hmmm, I wonder if that is what is wrong with me!!

When I set up my HH it was about 9:30-10:00pm and just wanted not to sleep on the ground. This was the old surf club building. So I set up on the patio.
Not much in the way of trees out there.
We had three spots and about 9 tents and one hammock. At $10.00 a tent. I need to make a stand.

Hey! That's my old stomping grounds!!! hahaha! I grew up in O'side and used to drive up to San Onofre every once in a while for the surf. Just to change it up from our beaches or San Diego beaches. NICE. Good memories and good times.

Was stationed at Camp Pendleton a couple of times (70's & 80's) and always enjoyed the beach. That water was a tad cold for swimming.

Nice report and pictures. Hanging by the ocean with the waves to lull you to sleep sounds like heaven it's self.

My buddy and i are planning a trip to come to california we would like to use our hammocks but we are also both hoping to learn how to surf while we are there and would like to find a camp ground near the ocean that would be good for both hammocks and begginer surfing. Any suggestions?
