Well, I used my DBs last weekend on a kayaking trip to Assateague Island, MD, and I can say with certainty that DBs will stand up to Salt water just fine. I used mine to clip my truck key to my 'yak bungees. Got plenty wet, and the only noticeable difference was the patina was a bit darker afterwards. No corrosion on the spring or anything.
Way to go Dutch,

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Formerly known as Acercanto, my trail name is MacGuyver to some, and Pucker Factor to others.

Which campsite? I am a late winter/early spring Assateague visitor, and we tend to camp at the Pine Tree campground. So far I ahve not hung there, but next year I plan on making the commitment (including Griz Beaks for my HH Hex fly).
Love that place!

We stayed at the Tingle's Island campsite. 2-ish mile paddle down the bay. Plenty of trees to hang from, and a toilet! Okay, maybe I'm a camping snob, but backcountry doesn't include having a toilet. Oh well.
