That's a great point on the Farrimond. I still find the taut line easier to tie and just as effective (maybe due to decades of conditioning), but pulling the line through for the first two loops can be a pain that the Farrimond handily overcomes. The taut line is easy to untie if you use a slippery hitch for the last turn, but I've been messing around with the Farrimond more and more.

I like to use tarpworms on slip rings and inline tarp tensioners. It's a great setup with many pro's and few con's. If you want the details let me know.
The "pulling through" also soured me on the TautLine Hitch. But the Farrimond is quick and effective. I might just drop the figure-9's after I have a chance to try it out.
When using the trucker hitch you use a slippery half hitch to cinch it up. When done pull the tail end and it all comes apart. But it is true that once you learn your knots there isn't much out there that weights less and is just as easy. However, I do use the stingerz on my ridge line mostly for easy adjustment in bad weather.
I'm definitely a hardware kinda guy when it comes to most of my lines. Admittedly, this is because I'm pretty new to the whole knot work thing, but I'm gradually learning what knots to use and where they can be used. As time goes on, I may end up using more knots than hardware as I further my knot education.
As far as the hardware goes, I'm using an assortment of Dutch bling for my tarp rigging. I have a few Figure 9's that I bought when I first got my tarp, but they haven't been utilized at any point in time. I fiddled around with the 9's at home, but never really "fell in love" with them. They're pretty much just hanging out in my gear closet as backups and/or loaners in case somebody needs to use them for whatever.

Mini UCR's on guy outs and ridge line easy to adjust and light weight plus no hardware
I use taut line hitch all the time - it's a great knot - I prefer knots over hardware ( nothing to lose when in the woods )
