bug sock: that is what I have been using--the ENO one which is very well made. But the problem is that no matter what you do there still are areas at the sides or bottom where contact limits its effectiveness.

It seems like a big soak may be the best way to go. Anyone have a fave brand of permethrin?

Sawyers undo your gathering at the end of the hammock, lay out your hammock and bugnet and spray liberally. Try NOT to get in on you while its wet, DON'T let cats near it while it's wet. But once the stuff has dried you should be good for a season of hammock camping.

Otherwise, you can get permethrin at Tractor Supply but you'll have to 'cut it' with water to about 1/20th of the strength its sold at. Use a 5 gallon bucket and soak your gear, being sure to agitate it a little to get in all the folds.

I get the bulk stuff from the farm supply store. I mix it according to the directions and put it in a spray bottle. Then i just hang the hammock in the yard and spray it down.

This also works great for pants, shoes, hats, etc.
