Bringing Backup Suspension

My suspension is TeeDee's suspension of 2 mm Dynaglide Whoopies and 1.75 mm Lash-It ridge line. I always carry an extra one since accidents happen and at the almost non-existent weight and bulk, it isn't noticeable. The tree huggers are rope and the extra rope I carry for emergencies can always be substituted.

If I am car camping I carry all my hammock gear and supplies. If hiking I will carry some extra mason line and amsteel, more for extra tarp lines but could be used for emergency suspension

I converted a tarp to a hammock earlier this summer. I had 1 extra whoopie and quadrupled up some other cord for the other end. One end it shared a tree strap with another hammock and on the other end we used sticks to keep the rope from damaging the tree. Since then I've carried an extra set of tree straps and a pair of whoopies. I don't distance hike and I've managed to get my weight to be a fraction of what it used to be. I've used the extra cord and strap for other tasks so bringing it hasn't always been a waste.

I have brought an extra short tree hugger a couple of times .... used it to hang my pack off a tree snow camping.
I do have a long continuous loop I carry in my secret pocket in my pack .... sometimes.

I am still researching so not hanging yet. My idea is to build a bit heavy. I will use 1/8" amsteel for whoopies instead of 7/64" for example. I will also want backup for water purification. I like the Sawyer system for filtering and I will carry tablets for backup. I have also thought of having a small pouch with an extra whoopie, repair items, and other things that may break or get lost.

I am offering this as advise but, like you, I like to hear feedback on my ideas. I am so new at this I can use all the advise I can get.

I carry extra guy lines for my tarp (4 extra. I only use 6 of the 10 ties on my Ogee).

no i do not. i just cant think that my dyneema tree straps will break as they were rated for 2.2 ton

If I'm not being a gram weenie, like on a rafting trip, I carry 50' of Amsteel. I used it for a clothes line to hang up wet river clothing. I also carry a couple 10' extensions for my tarp ridgeline which I ended up using.
