    Greetings!!

Just a friendly hello from Mississippi!

I got turned onto hammocks after doing some research on some lightweight gear for hiking and jokingly emailed a friend a cheap lightweight hammock from Dicks Sporting goods saying how ideal that would be for my tent! Well, curiosity got the best of me so I did some research and later found Shugs' youtube videos for noobs (Thanks Shug!) and well, that was about all I needed to know that I did want to get a hammock for my hiking/camping trips!

So anyways, I've ended up with getting the Hennessey Hammock (one with the zipper side entrance) with super shelter after reviewing a few. Here in the South the hammocks with attached bug netting was a must for me, and the zippered side entrance option was just even more an incentive. I just love it! So much better than any tent/tarp shelter I've experimented with!

So, with the wonderful advice I've found from some of the forum members here, and looking into doing some modifications and such I've registered and look forward to learning more.

Welcome aboard. Addiction sounds so negative, let's just say maniacal interest.

    Thank you.

As far as addictions, I already jump at the chances to go on a hike, so I'm anxious to take the hammock out further than my back yards

Welcome to HF from Bama..........the info is overflowing here on this site and the members could not be better. Not sure which part of Mississippi you are located at, but there is a hang scheduled for the end of October in Tennessee. Neo, one of the members, puts it on twice a year. You have gotta be there on Saturday night for the food if nothing else. Check it out!!!!!!

I'm in central MS, have a group I hike with going to Talladega forest in November. But I'd love to go out sooner! Where can I find more info on that hang?

Oh, that's even better! I live right off the Natchez Trace. I forgot how long it took me to get to Tupelo but that will just be an easy straight shot up that way. I'll see if I can make it, may have to work that Saturday though
