first winter hang of the year

Well it has started. I was elk hunting this weekend and the first of the week. I was at about 10,000 feet hunting and hiking dark timber. The first night was mild mid 40. The next day it started raining temp. dropped all day. That night it got down to 30 and stayed that way for the rest of the week. Rain, snow, sleet and just cool temps. My poncho liner for an underquilt, a sleeping pad, and wool blanket kept me fairly comfy. No elk but was a good time seen plenty of bear and elk and deer sign but only seen a few animals. Oh well thats why they call it hunting and not killing. I atleast didnt starve as the grouse were feeding me well.

No I am not in the bush. Where I hunt your lucky if you see someone elses foot print till you get the 12 miles back to the jeep.

By "in the bush" I meant out in a wild and remote place. Even if there are not any actual bushes, like maybe above timberline. Where you hunt sounds like it qualifies as wild and remote, and a fine place for the 1st winter hammock adventure of the year.
