Nice! Website says 5.1 oz. weight. I realize that's only a .3 oz. difference ... haha, but did request anything special to bring the weight down, or did you just get lucky?

I emailed Joe a few days ago when I saw the other thread about this tarp. In regards to taping, he said:

"I stopped using the tape because the adhesive turned to dust after several months and it came off. I had a handful of returns due to that error- thankfully the tents and tarps were just prototypes at that point and not too many were sold with tape. Maybe different tape would last longer but I don't have months to find out.

The new sewn seams are triple stitched and they are pretty sturdy. Sil Net weighs less than the tape I was using."

Like Raul said, if Joe is fine with the construction, so am I.

Here's a pick of the packability of the cuben tarp vs the Maccat deluxe spinnUL

had a few days to mess around with it... SpinnUL is very noisy after being broken in. I got the Cuben broken in from another member here and it is definitely MUCH quieter.

Also to be noted it does take some effort to pack the cuben in the stuff sack supplied. It fits but a little forcing is required.

Got a request to post some additional pics on the tarp and stitching so here you go:

First time using the Macro version on my Canon Powershot 780is.... took some great close up shots.

In pic #3 is that holes in the tarp where the stitching is?

Yeah it looks like it. I'll look at the tarp by the ridgeline a little bit.

Looks like there are some small holes on the ridgeline stitching for the attachment points. Looks mainly due to some of the stitching is not on the reinforced layer. Looks easy to reinforce with some tape.

Anyone know where I can get some tape used to reinforce cuben tarps?

You could try contacting WV, I know that he made a cuben tarp and did a lot of testing on the fabric!!!
