Awesome. Thanks both of you. Need a permit to camp? Are there good swimming holes? So many questions.

"Civilization is the limitless multiplication of unnecessary necessities." - Mark Twain
“I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order.” - John Burroughs
Nope, no permit necessary. Just go out and have fun
Keep in mind though that the area is fairly rugged (like Linville Gorge).
There are several places where you can go swimming. Harper Creek Falls (1.5 miles from the nearest parking lot) has some nice swimming holes - which is also why there can be a few too many people, especially at the weekends, at the Falls.
Once you get past the falls you are usually on your own - I only saw one other hiker the entire weekend!!
Welcome from the coast.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Welcome fellow NC hanger! I love the Wilson Creek area. I try to go up that way every year as our church has a camp on Hwy 90 near Collettsville. I have jumped off of Harpers Creek Falls in the past. That water up there stays cold year around! Did you do the 12 mile section with mutiple creek crossings?
