how do you spell relief? This vid isn't about bridge hammocks! (although one does make a cameo appearance).

Owing to Mrs G and JP being absent this weekend, I had from late Friday afternoon through Saturday to sneak in a hang and hike. I packed up and headed over to a Forest Preserve less than an hour from my home. Camped in a backcountry site Friday night, hiked the 11 mile backpacking trail Saturday. Filled an 8Gb SD card with video clips to provide some fixin's for a trail hike-u-mentory.

Part 1 documents Friday night and the launch of the hike.

Teasers

I slept under only a DIY single layer Insultex over quilt. Temps dropped to upper 40's. Did I stay warm?
The Littlbug Junior with attachment for using alcohol stoves makes an appearance.
Both the Littlbug Junior and my pot (MSR Titan) are introduced to wood flame for the first time, on film. Kinda like a snuff flick
Zelph's Venom stove makes an appearance, as does Tinny's mini-atomic. They have a big fight.
I'm breaking copyright by using the music I do. How long until youtube busts me, and when they do, is the video shut off or do I just get an insert offering the tune up for sale? I hope the latter....and you ought to buy the tune. It was just too good a piece of tunage to pass up.

Part 2 is a work in progress, expect it will cover the rest of the hike and a run-down on gear carried. To my friends posting questions on the youtube comments---yep, that's a ULA Ohm I'm carrying.

Love the "fire in your eyes" scene! The Little Bug was honking..... like the chain deal.

Good report on the Insultex...... still not tried it myself.

Like the others have said Grizz: thank you for allowing me on the trail with you. I also like the fire in your eyes scene. I look forward to the second installment and I am impressed with the IX results.
