Greetings, everyone!
I'm a stay at home dad from Twig, MN (15 miles north of Duluth). I've been camping my whole life, mostly in tents. I haven't been backpacking in a long time, but now that my son is old enough to join me, I'm getting back into it. Doing research I found out about hammock camping and then I stumbled on Shug's videos. That's all the convincing I needed.
I just ordered a Hennessy Expedition and a Scout for my son from their October sale. I can't wait until they arrive and we get to set them up. We'll just start in the woods behind us for now (we have 10 acres) with plans to get out onto some trails and into some more wild areas next spring and summer.
I'm learning a lot from the forums here and I've just about convinced myself to build my own under quilts and do mummy bag to over quilt conversions for insulation. A lot has changed in the last 15 years or so since I was really into backpacking, so I have some catching up to do.
