I have a huge custom OES tarp that I'm happy with that might work in this instance... just my .02.

I added two tabs, same as Knotty. Very quick mod. This tarp is what I use for hanging side by side with my wife. There is another thread going that shows a source for this tarp at about $20.00.

Went out saturday night and my nephew and I slept under a JRB 10X11, pretty much side by side, and comfortably.

My buddy and his wife used a the Kelty Noah 9x9 and had no issue sleeping under it together.

Give me a minute or two and I will wrangle up some pics.

Kelty Noah 9 ( generally not considered for backpacking on this forum ) but has kept us dry in medium to heavy rain with medium to light wind. ( Good buy at $50 {sunnysports.com} to $60. ) vanCamping.

One tarp. Two hammocks. Three trees.

Kelty Noah9, 13ft on the diagonal.
ENOs, one single and one double, for that hang. It may work with other hammocks.

Sometimes, if very close, it works best with heads at opposite ends, then if very close, you can hold hands.

Normally, my husband and I use two tarps, but a mother black bear, and her three cubs, was regularly passing by our campsite. I wanted to tighten the space between the hammocks.

    Mac,

If they are going to hang bunk style, the bottom "bunk' is much lower and often longer, in the case of a childs hammock on top...Thus most hex style tarps would be inadequate except in a straight down rain for the length of the lower tarp....Same would be true of Diamonds and Diamond hung square tarps...Recommend a rectangle or near rectangule approach.

I just backordered 3 Guide Gear tarps. 2 for me and the little womans DIY setups, and one for a friends DIY setup. But we will likely only carry one for both of us to crash under. Except in winter when battening down the hatches may be needed.

I just can't make my own 12x12 for cheaper. Me carrying the 2 hammocks (3lbs), and her carrying the tarp (2lbs). Life is good.

    That's good advice. Thanks, Pan!

    Speer Winter Tarp works well.

How many pairs of underwear do you own? Do you refer to them as "extras", simply because you're not wearing all of them as we speak?
