Someone at the Bushcraft forums started with Patrick's design for the Potomac, and the forum organized a group buy with Snugpak making it...then Snugpak scoffed when they found out it might be someone else's design. Then the design morphed into a new one and they went through with the group buy. The new design didn't have a way to snug the middle of each end to the hammock so a lot of the warm air spilled out. Looks like they found a way to address it...wonder how efficient it is.

Yeah - I'm sticking with the DownHammock, or the JRB set, or the PeaPod, or the Potomac, or the Exped...addiction sucks.

I don't see how it could work. The UQ suspension is tied up high with the bug net lines. That had better be some very high quality shock cord since it isn't gonna move with the hammock. I think it would put too much stress on the shock cord, and where the cord attaches to the UQ.

Cerberus - my short term memory isn't so hot, but I think they said that you raise or lower it from inside the hammock, so one side may very well be shock cord but from what they said I'm going to guess that atleast one side is done up like the garlington insulator... but that's just my here say and assumption, for all I know it could be an intricate assembley of pulleys, mini wenches, and geneva wheels run by a garage door motor; all of which weighing in at an ultralight 53.2 lbs for the pinnacle of backyard engineering

I like your explanation better than mine. I hope they do have a simple setup and the shock cord isn't a problem. I've always thought the underquilt market is too small. Of course the options we do have are high quality, but we need more.
