    Hammock Repair: holes in bed

A while back (2 months) I was taking an afternoon nap in my NX150,
and noticed at the foot end of the bed of my hammock a number of small holes.

I was horrified and after closer inspection saw that there was about six holes
varying from pin hole to pencil led size, and that laying in the hammock
would stretch the holes and make them bigger.

I got out and packed it up and contacted Clark immediately.
They were very concerned as to whether it was a manufacturing defect or not ???

I said that they didn't appear til a month after I had it
and the first couple of tries I had left my shoes on while laying in.

Clark said that they would determine a couple of things when they had it in their possession.
The options were to patch or replace the entire bottom.

It was brutal not having the hammock
as the lack there of was right when
I had been planing a trip into a new area.
The type of trip I will not get many of.

    Conclusion:
Clark repaired the area with a 4x5 inch patch,
one inside and one out side,
and sewed a very professional stitching,
There was no charge, and they held back my z-liner order
in order to ship together at no extra shipping cost.

I have used my hammock a few times since getting it back
and I am happy with the way it turned out.

Sorry for the poor quality of the cel photo
but my good cam's are out w/family on a trip.

Congrats on getting it fixed! By chance did they mention what they used and how it was fixed(ie.. did they place any glue/tape or anything inside the patch) also what material they used? Glad they did this for you, it says a lot about the company!!!!

I don't know for sure but would think by the feel and look
    that glue/tape was not used. . .

. . . I thought that this would be a good post for even the DIY guy/gals
as there was a thread on this subject, a short time ago.

They used the same material as the bed is made of.

Customer service: Yea, they turned it around in less than 24 hrs.

    Thanks for your report.

It's good to know that if I ever get any pin holes (my little rat terrier likes to hang out with me sometimes and I'm always worried about her claws), I can now fix it.

Bet you haven't gotten back inside your hammock with your shoes on!!

That's exactly how I would have done the repair. It looks solid.

Good to hear they take care of you. Props to them (and to you for posting about it).

Glad they got it all fixed up for you... I've used that method to repair tore rainflys with seam sealer applied after the patch was stitched... Works great with a few little tricks like making sure the orientation of the patch results in one of the patch corner pointing veritcally so water can run off better...
