Best way to add structural ridgeline to whoopie system?

I have an ENO DoubleNest. I removed the stock cord and carabiners and added whoopie slings (the fixed loop ends are threaded through the hammock end channel twice and then girth hitched). I use poly tree straps and toggles from the tree to the whoopies.

I just bought a Dynaglide adjustable ridgeline so I can better experiment with sag and comfort issues.

Would it be acceptable to slip a normal climbing carabiner into the whoppies where they're wrapped through the ends of my hammock and connect the ridgeline to the 'biners?

    Thanks for any advice,

That would be fine, I have the same set up with an adjustable ridge line that i just ran straight through the whoopies and it works just fine.

+1 What he said. When I had an Whoopie ASR on my old Doublenest clone I just fend the whoopie sling fixed eye through my end channel, before I threaded it through to make the larkshead, I ran the suspension whoopie through the eye of the structural ridgeline whoopie. Rinse and repeat for the other end. No need to have the extra weight of 2 climbing carabiners.

    Cheers

I concur .... skip the biners and just slip the RL on the whoopies.

Thanks very much for the information, folks!

The only reason I was thinking of using the 'biners was to have a very easy way out if I didn't like the ridge line. I was headed out to the woods for a while with no time to mess with it beforehand and didn't want to have to take everything apart in the woods to get it off if it didn't work out for me. When I'm in the hammock and try to imagine the ridgeline being in place, it seems like it will be right in my face.

Anyway, long story short, my trip was shortened drastically by an also drastic change in the weather (rain and more rain) and the unexpected loss of waterproofness of my Kelty Noah's Tarp 9 ! When I unfolded the tarp, it seemed to be sticking to itself a bit and the fabric looked like there had been some breakdown of the coating. After deploying the tarp (I had planned to spend the night without it but it started raining after I turned in) I noticed a drop of water hitting me here and there. I shined my headlamp up at the tarp and was horrified to see two large areas where water was dripping through!

My order for a MacCat Deluxe has already been placed.

See you in the poor house (can you hang a hammock there?),
