Hudson River & Old Rag Mountain

Thanks Jacks for the quick emails and suggestions. The sale made me pull the trigger on this a year eariler than planned.

I was going to go through this winter trying to use my double bag / double pad sleep system in my hammock; my thinking was that I would go to ground if I felt I didn't have enough insulation beneath me [snow is a great insulator between you and the cold earth]. But JRB's sale was just too tempting & I have been very happy with each purchase I have made with them.

So I bought the Hudson River as a summer UQ / 3 season TQ and the Old Rag Mountain as a 3 season UQ. I plan on supplementing the HR TQ/ORM UQ set in the winter as needed with my exisiting gear from years of tent camping.

I expect that testing the various combinations, to dial in what gear is needed based on expected overnight lows, is going to be a year long exercise and another reason to get out in the woods more often.
    Love my JRB BMB

Nice purchase! Tho I think you will find the Hudson River is more than adequate as a 3 season uq. The Hudson River is rated into the low 20F range, Old Rag is warmer....

I have both the Hudson River and Old Rag Mountain quilts as well. I have only used them as top quilts so far but would like to try the Hudson River underneath this winter. Maybe try it over my 3 season Yeti for colder temps in winter too. For me the Hudson River limits out at about 25 degrees as a top quilt so I'll be breaking out the Old Rag Mountain pretty soon.
