Doors on tarp, one side or both?

Good morning community,

I'm eagerly awaiting a MacCatDeluxe which I'll be definitively be playing with in the upcoming fall and winter season with my WBBB and the incubator. Now, the questions or the door/s arose.
I'm fairly convinced that a door is probably the way to go, especially in the colder season to keep the draft manageable. I'm very much leaning toward the much acclaimed Grizzbeak as sold by 2q2z. Now the question is, do you close down one end or both, ie do you take one or two?
It is my guesstimate that in a potentially drafty hang area, you pitch you hammock/tarp in such a way, that the foot-end points into the wind. This would then be the side that I'd be closing down with the removable door too, right? On the head-end I would put a door, because
a) one doesn't seem to need it, the draft is broken, and
b) it'd be a little to claustrophobic in my book.
So, one door at the foot end would be me setup if you agree with this theory. Please let me have your thoughts!

I've always carried two (DIY) beaks because the weight penalty is so low. I close off the foot end and leave the head end open as it is where I get in and out from under the tarp. I leave the beaks in an open 'vestibule' configuration. This way, if all hell breaks loose, I can just move two stakes and I'm fully enclosed.

Same here RF ... carry my two Grizz beaks ... in case.

Sometimes the wind changes overnight, or it's just that cold that you'll want to close off both ends. It would be like sleeping in a tent with the door open...you may stay dry but it'll be colder. But it's all personal preference...sometimes I don't even take a big tarp, let alone doors, even in the winter.

But when I do get my tarp with sewn-on doors, I'll have them on both ends.

i use 1 for all the reasons you talked about...

editted: i don't camp out in january or february, so take my experience with a grain of salt if you are planning deep winter camping...

I only use one door !

I pitch my tarp so that any likely wind will hit me 3 or 9 o'clock.
I have one door in case the wind shifts.

I camp in winter time as well. and i am with Jeff here.
I use as little cover as possible, b/c i am trying to minimize condensation.
The more you cover yourself up, the more likely problems with condensation ?

I tend to bring 1, mostly for the reasons you describe. In below freezing sort of temps I'll also pack a sock...more weight than a second beak, but a smaller space to heat, and enclosed...more warmth than I'd get with that 2nd beak.

if memory serves the square footage of sil nylon used is around 2.5 sq yds,
making the overall weight in the 6 oz range. Probably posted the figure in the beak thread, but I'm just dropping by HF for a sec before my next meeting
