move around alot at first and try all kinds of different positions so you can find what works for you. alot of people put something under their knees (when laying on their back)
While I sleep on my stomach in my bed at home, I have had no problem sleeping on my side in my BB. I even find that I sometimes rolled over during the night and change sides or end up on my back. When I am "conducting sleep studies" (taking an afternoon nap) in my ENO DN in my backyard I sleep on my back. Either way it is a constant learning curve and even my worst night resulted in no back pain unlike sleeping in my bed at home. Years ago I had to sell my king size water bed because I felt worse after a night sleeping on the water bed than when I would sleeping on the floor.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
Feet and calves can occasionally be an annoyance for me in the hammock. They are my only body part that regularly complains, getting restless and sometimes feeling too confined/cramped. About half the time I have my ankles crossed which is generally the most comfortable configuration, and occasionally I need a different leg position or to move my joints, and have to pull one or the other back to make a figure-4 with my legs for a little while.
Another thing to consider is how you've rigged your ridgeline, if you have one. You don't need one, but sag plays into how flat you lay in your hammock. This is one of those "fine-tuning" dials that takes a few sessions to dial in just right. Also, how high your head is in relation to your feet plays into this. Just take some time to dial it in for yourself. As a few others have said, if the problem persists, you may just need to get a different type of hammock, like the Warbonnet with foot box or a bridge.
Best of luck to you. Let us know what you end up doing to resolve it.
