    Overstuff ?

    I have been looking buying a TQ / UQ set.

    One criteria I came up with was calculating the volume based on the quilt dimensions [L x W x Baffle Height] and comparing it to the volume based the amount of down provided [down oz x down fill power].

    Ratio = [oz down * fill power] / [l * w * t]

    Ideally the volumes would be the same and the ratio would be 1 or 100%

    I understood that wasn't practical and expected to see slightly less "down volume" than "fabric volume". And, for the vendors that listed the required values, that is what I found.

    On most models, if I paid to have one (1) oz of overstuff, the extra down puts put the "down volume" slightly higher than the "fabric volume". Changing the ratios from 92-95% to 98%-103%.

    The spreadsheet does suggest that none of the quilts needed 2 oz of overstuff since the values go from 98%-103% to 106-111%.

    I don't know if the extra down will only make for a cosmetic difference by making the quilt look puffier since some of the extra down isn't going to fully loft anyways.

    I am hoping people could comment on whether they felt overstuffing is worth the extra investment.

    Just saw the order come in... They should go out this afternoon... Look for them via USPS Priority Mail before the weekend.

    Enjoy!
