    Daughters first night out

In preparation for an upcoming weekend away I gave my daughter an overnight try in my hammock to see how she would go (My wife figured she wouldn't like it). It also gave me the opportunity to apply a few things I've learnt off this forum to my hammock setup. The night went really well, she was buzzing all afternoon in the anticipation of getting to sleep in the hammock. It took her a while to get to sleep with the excitement but once she did she slept soundly through til morning.

The only downside to the whole exercise was that I spent the night in my swag which just reminded me how comfy the hammock is. By the time we go away at the end of the month she'll have her own hammock which is currently in construction. I can't wait! The next project might be to cut down the poncho liner I'm using as an under blanket. Then again I really dislike the camo look so maybe I should buy myself a proper one, those crows nests look awfully tempting. Hopefully I'll get some pics on the trip and let you all know how it goes.

What a great photo and story. Staying together as a family is what life is all about. My kids look forward to our campin trips and also do well in hammocks, but at home, they struggle to sleep in them.

Great photo! She looks a little chilled, but happy.

I got yelled at for suggesting that I was going to tempt the low 30's that are hitting the Chicago suburbs tonight. Apparently I'm anti-social.

That is just great. My daughter is 9 and she loves camping and sleeping in her hammock. She started camping at 4 and hammocking at six. Now I can't get her to go back to the ground. She has excellent taste. Have fun with your new hammocking buddy.
