~ 50 ft paracord for bear bag and clothesline for wet, i.e. sweatty, clothes, especially stinky socks. Sometimes you can do both without cutting, especially if there is a bear cable already established where you stop.
In the future Mason's line for tarps. Currently have Ed's spectra. Mason also for DIY stuff bags and other odds and ends.
No ridge on the tarp, Ed's spectra for the tie to the tree

I use this 2mm stuff...http://www.knotandrope.com/flingit.htm for my tarp and bear bag. My tarp lines are already tied, I just pull tight and stake it. I carry about 35-40 feet for the bag. I use a couple of Easton stakes plus I carry a couple of "corkscrew Al stakes" as spares. I use a HH.

i'll add a comment about the mason line.

i used it for tarp tie outs for several years & it was cheap, light & plenty strong.
but there were a few negative things that continued to stand out in my mind.

1)... it seemed to to retain water & gain noticeable weight when wet.

2)... it seemed to loose it's stretch memory when wet, causing extra slack & sagging in the tarp on a wet morning.

3)... if you made the mistake of tieing the wrong kind of knot in the wrong place & pulled it tight, you could forget about getting it out. of course it was cheap enough that it didn't hurt my feelings to cut it.

now those are just my casual observations... no actual testing was done. so maybe some folks here can put those two thoughts to the test.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Headchange, I had now idea mason's twine was available in a braided version. The stuff I used to use when I framed houses was 3-strand laid, and not very strong, it used to break sometimes when we really stretched a line tight. I have to make a trip to Lowes.
