Thanks for the heads up, I picked one up as well! $55.92 after shipping, the cheapest that I have seen it. I am quite pleased!

hmm.. looking at the other available tarps I observe:
equinox- 8x10 -silnylon for 95$ weighs 14 oz
and
generic tarp- 8x10 -blue poly 3.50$ weighs 18 oz.
can I possibly justify paying 27x more $ to save 4 oz?
(ie the approx weight of 24 5 cent coins?)
and yet it is the accepted thing to do.
must be gear madness or something....
just wondering if anybody else has these arguments with them selves?
KM(who would much rather build her own tarp from 5.35 yds of 6$ seconds or 3$ noah sil if she can ever get around to ordering the stuff...32$ or 17$ is much more likely to happen...)
Seems to me when contemplating carrying stuff on your back that grams add up to ounces and ounces add up to pounds (see there folks us cavemen get it). Were I doing that I would indeed balance ounces for survival and comfort. Yer not mad just thrifty. Lord knows I have been drooling over some of the exotic offerings but with moto travel weight (grams and ounces) is not a huge priority.
I note that the REI Kelty Noah's 9x9 is offered at $44.93, making $49.93 a steal for the 12x12. The 9x9 however is 29 ounces...
Just ordered mine yesterday, the 9x9 that is. Thought that the 12x12 was a good price but just to big for me. I was going to make my own silnylon, and will at a later time. But I have read to many post about the sil "misting" in hard rain, and wanted something water proof, have heard good things about the Kelty.
Could the 9X9 be used as well, or is that going a bit small?

I ordered the 12x12 last night. Really debated on the 9x9, but was afraid it would be a little smaller than I wanted if I set it up as a winter tarp. This is my first tarp, so I may be wrong...but hey, it is still a good price on a nice big tarp....
I have a 20% off coupon for REI and I see the price for the 9x9 is 44. So that makes it 35.00$! Again, just like others I question the heavier weight and whether I could do better for slightly more. However at that low of a price I don't think so.
Where did you find that coupon? Is it something online?
I wouldn't mind the 12X12 if I could get an extra 20% off!
Also, if you guys aren't in a hurry and have an REI near you...you can have your item shipped to the store for free. It typically takes two weeks though, as it comes on their regular delivery truck.
