I can't believe nobody else has brought this up yet...

Why would Bill Cosby be asking us about food? Everyone knows he lives solely off of Jello pudding!

    Seriously though,

What portable stoves do you use?
    - How much did it cost?
MSR Whisperlite Internationale or a Vargo Triad XE.
I can't remember how much the whisperlite was (bought back in 1997), but the Vargo alcohol stove was right around $25 shipped.

What foods do you cook in it/take with you on a hike?
Mountain House meals, homemade dehydrated meals or (sometimes) MRE's .

    Do you use a headlamp/lantern?
    Headlamp
    - What kind/Where did you get it?
    Energizer 6 LED from Walmart
    - How much?
    Around $15-20

Where do you get your ridgelines, more specifically for tarps?
The internet or a store somewhere?

I either use 550 cord/parachute cord (internet purchased), or some small diameter cord from my local West Marine boating store.
Yesterday's tomorrow is tomorrow's yesterday. It's the only day that counts.

You could get a bigger hammock bag, some guys wrap them around the bag, some guys like to keep them in a seperate bag especially if they get sap or stuff on them.

    Diy wood and alcohol stoves.
Much lighter in weight, made to suit personal preferences as opposed to what some manufacture thinks I should use, more versatile than anything store bought, easily replaced if need be.

Best part I keep my money, rather than lining the pockets of some stranger. And I learn about self sufficiency, adaptability, physics, ... the list goes on.

What foods do you cook in it/take with you on a hike?

Could be a great and varied list, just a few,
    *oatmeal
    *pancakes
    *eggs
    *bacon or sausage
    *noodles
    *rice
    *fresh fish
    *fresh bugs (taste like chicken)
    *fresh weeds
    *fresh rabbit
    *fresh nuts
    *fresh crab
    *fresh sprouts

I want to get another headlamp, probably a petzl, used to have a coon hunting headlamp, very heavy, but very well made with much candle power.
    Also pretty expensive
Recent trips included a hand crank flashlight, and a diy tea candle lantern.

Where do you get your ridgelines, more specifically for tarps?
The internet or a store somewhere?
    - Could I go to Home Depot?
    - What lengths/gauges?

    Home depot, wal-mart, fishing store,..

Look for some braided not twisted trotline/seine twine, or mason line. 250-375 lb. test, uses are many and varied.

Any other links to sites where I could get these items or any other general information would be appreciated.

    Stoves,

    http://www.backpacking.net/makegear.html
    http://wings.interfree.it/html/main.html

    Food,

coop or health food store for grains, seeds..
farmers market for veggies, fruit, and honey
    sav-a-lot
    wal-mart
    grocery of choice and/or necessity
