    I'm finally catching up ...

I purchased my first hammock, a Blackbird, over a year ago. I got the stock strap suspension due to its no-brainer ease of use.

Since then, I've been watching the fantastic suspension creations that have come from you fellow forum members. Every time I was about to trade in my straps and go for the lastest whiz-bang system, someone would re-invent it and cut the weight in half again! So, I decided to just sit back and wait until someone figured out how to hang a hammock between two trees with no suspension at all, because it seemed that's where this was going. I wouldn't have been surprised to see a coating material for the hammock, that was attracted to chlorophyll.

But now I've decided that the wait is over and I've ordered whoopie slings and other various amsteel products from Paul at Arrowhead, (who, by the way, was so helpful in straightening out my screwed up order). I've also recently added Dutch clips and now have an order in to JRB for the Dutch biners. (Dutch, quit inventing cool stuff. I can't afford any more!)

Now I'm going to cut my straps down to minimum size, add my whoopies and come into the modern age of hammocking. I even picked up some Insultex from Paul to play with WhooBuddy!

    Nice, nice, nice.
I think I'm going to go broke getting a Blackbird hammock setup before the end of the month.
Jealous of everyone's lightweight toys. Would enjoy seeing photos of before and after the suspension swap.
Can't wait to get started on mine, come on Mr U.S.Postal delivery dude.

...seems like I've been waiting months on my Blackbird delivery. Only seems that way. Brandon was very true to his word getting it shipped.

Mad777 I really hope you like those Dutch biners. I think if you have whoopies you need those biners.

I went the dutch clip and whoopie sling route, because it is super simple to set up. I LOVE the ease of use factor. It's sweet!

Enjoy your new suspension rig!! Post some pics when you get a free sec.

Everyone that uses Dutch Clips knows they have magical properties and are even rumored to made by the Keebler Elves

This weekend I attached my Whoopie slings and 12" continuous loops with Dutch biners and Dutch clips, and, cut my Warbonnet straps down to 5 ft. (from almost 14 ft.), and got rid of my climbing biners.

I got all my parts from Paul at AHE except for the Dutch items from JRB.

I saved over 4 ounces of weight and over 4 cubic inches of volume and still have a convenient hanging system.

I also got a 4 ft. "suspension extension" line (7/64" amsteel with fixed eyes at each end) for the rare time I might find trees further apart.

    I'm a HAPPY CAMPER!
