I purchased my first hammock, a Blackbird, over a year ago. I got the stock strap suspension due to its no-brainer ease of use.
Since then, I've been watching the fantastic suspension creations that have come from you fellow forum members. Every time I was about to trade in my straps and go for the lastest whiz-bang system, someone would re-invent it and cut the weight in half again! So, I decided to just sit back and wait until someone figured out how to hang a hammock between two trees with no suspension at all, because it seemed that's where this was going. I wouldn't have been surprised to see a coating material for the hammock, that was attracted to chlorophyll.
But now I've decided that the wait is over and I've ordered whoopie slings and other various amsteel products from Paul at Arrowhead, (who, by the way, was so helpful in straightening out my screwed up order). I've also recently added Dutch clips and now have an order in to JRB for the Dutch biners. (Dutch, quit inventing cool stuff. I can't afford any more!)
Now I'm going to cut my straps down to minimum size, add my whoopies and come into the modern age of hammocking. I even picked up some Insultex from Paul to play with WhooBuddy!
