    Webbing sewing making a mess

I'm making some tree straps out of nylon webbing. I keep running into this big mess under the strap when I pull it off of the machine.

The top side looks perfect, but again when I pull off the strap and flip it over I have a huge mess of thread under the strap (bobbin side), with about 10 different threads going from the different points on my stitch down into the bobbin hole.

    Has anyone seen this happen?

I sewed some jeans last night with no problems at all.

tighten your top tension. There is a big difference between double layers of webbing and jeans. But at the same time you might want to consider changing to polypro or polyester webbing. Nylon stretches like nobodies business.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I will try tightening my top tension, thanks for the input.

I switched to nylon because polyester webbing stretched too much. I got some straps from Arrowhead and one stretched and broke (not at the stitching).

A buddy got the same straps and would wake with his butt on the ground (a foot lower than when he went to sleep).

EDIT: I believe the straps we bought were 1" polyester and rated at 1000lbs. The straps I am now using are 1" nylon and rated at 4200lbs.
