Tree Straps

On all the threads that I have read, you are using tree straps, GOOD. Now, where are you getting your straps from? Anyone making them, if so what material are you using. I went to a few stores and the only thing I can find doesn't look strong enough, or the breaking strength just isn't high enough for me to feel safe.

+1 on the AHE tree straps only I have the camo and not the black. They are great straps of any length you want and shipped quickly.

You could get ratchet straps at your local hardware store. Cut off the heavy hooks and ratchets and you have serviceable webbing. Go for polyester or polypropelene. Avoid nylon if possible as it stretches. If you know anyone that intstalls fiber optic cable you can score some mule tape. Its polyester and bound for the garbage anyways.

I had some mule tape years ago, don't know what happened to it

. I think that the mule tape is a little to narrow for tree straps

+1 on the ratchet straps. That is what I use.

This place keeps costing me more and more dinero. Just headed over to strapworks and ordered a couple more sets of polypropylene straps. I usually just order a 24' strap with 2" loops sewn on each end and have them cut it in half and singe the ends. They are excellent quality and strong as hell. Not as cheap as the Harbor Freight straps, but $15 for a set with the loops already sewn in and shipped isn't too bad.

You can take a look here. I used them a while back and they are great people and they have a lot to choose from. If you don't like what you see or just have something else in mind like I did, they will make most anything you can come up with for a very reasonable price. Dale

P.S. Don't use nylon because it stretches and it sucks to wake up in the middle of the night to rehang your hammock higher. It will then regain original shape just to let you do it again the next night.
