Despite the fact that there are few fatalities it only takes one. And here's something to think about...in my area there has actuall been a case where someone shot another hunter who was in a treestand and said he thought it was a deer..."are you freekin kiddin me"...also about six years ago I went hunting and despite the fact of the blaze orange requirement I always wear it in and then hang it on the tree limb above where I set up...when I left and went to put my blaze orange back on I didn't exactly get a warm and fuzzy feeling when I put my blaze orange hat back on as it had a freeking bullet hole in it...in one side out the other...are you freaking kiddin me...good thing I wasn't wearing the hat...There are some real freakin idiots in the woods during deer season....and I am an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. I don't know if the blaze orange tarp would help or just give a freaking idiot something to shoot at...Don't mean to rant but you would think they would make you take an aptitude test before letting someone in the woods with a gun....stand at the gunshop...I'm sorry sir you can't have a gun but here's your sign.

Haha - just sold some blaze orange coated ripstop that would be perfect for a backpack. That's actually what I bought it for - to make packs for the kids - but never got around to it so I figured I'd let someone else use it. I think a blaze orange gearskin would be perfect for this time of year.

Re: the hunting discussion - go read the dozens of whiteblaze threads on this exact topic, and if you still want to discuss it here then please take it to PMs.

Dude just asked if a blaze orange tarp is a good idea, so let's discuss that. Seems that it's a good idea if it makes you feel safer and helps you sleep at night. Personally, I don't change my setup during hunting season either, other than making the kids use blaze orange pack covers.

Now I have lived in a number of states where hunting is a big deal (PA, CO, WY) and have hunted myself but now that I live with in striking distance of NYC the hunting season gives me reason to be careful. It is close enough for "City Folk" to get out in the "wilds" and try their hand at hunting.

When I was in College further upstate in New York some hunters from the city (NYC) stopped at a game check station with their tagged and field dressed "deer". It was not a deer but was in fact a white llama. on hearing this we sewed together several blaze vests together and put them on all the horses at the stable I worked at.

A blaze rain fly would be something I would possibly buy. But thats just me. And yes I understand the risk levels. Heck I know i am most likely 1000% more likley to get shot in Manhattan than in the woods.

Everybody would think I'm a Florida Gator fan camping under that thing.

Not disrespecting the Gators, I'm just a Big 12 kind of guy.

You think a hunter would shoot you because of that?

Personally, I don't see what the problem with that is...
