Yea, I am in Columbia, and ready to get out and enjoy this great fall weather! I solo hike a fair bit, but it would be fun to meet up with a couple of ya'll and see how ya do it.

Hiking & hanging in Congaree National Swamp. Paddling & hanging on Lake Murray and Congaree. Otherwise we go elsewhere . . .

Congaree is nice, but a bit flat. I have been going up to Sumter NF lately. Nice trails, just hilly enough for a good workout, and a million great spots to hang.

The northwest corner of SC is a goldmine of trails and camping.
The Chatooga was mentioned and IMO, that's the crown jewel. I hope to be there this weekend with my son.
The Foothills Trail is 80 miles long but there are multiple places you can shorten that by hiking a portion either from point to point or in and out.
Jones Gap State Park is another favorite of mine.
Search for any of those on here and you'll find a lot of trip reports.

If you don't mind going just a little farther, the NC mountains are pretty fine as well. Pisgah Forest and Cradle of Forestry are good places to start.
