    New guy "Burrow" question.

I'll be honest and share I'm not a hammock owner yet. Trying one shortly. Regardless, I do need a new sleeping back in the 3-season range.

I'm interested in the Burrow and wonder what your thoughts are if I end up staying a tent sleeper. I'm not a huge lover of mummy bags and I'm thinking I might like the Burrow regardless. I have an older thermarest that I may have to upgrade for colder temps for this type of set-up.

I too am not a "mummy bag" guy either. I prefer the rectangle or modified rectangle sold by Big Agnes. I have a Burrow and an older style thermarest pad also, and have found the combo to be both comfortable and workable.

Probably the most important thing to adjust to, when going from a sleeping bag to a quilt, whether you are in a hammock or sleeping on the ground, is to use the footbox and when a gap happens it will let in cold air, but that is quickly noticed and corrected by simply retucking the edge of the quilt. I personally did not have any issues with transitioning from a sleeping bag to a quilt.

But I can tell you this.....sleeping in a hammock is much more comfortable and preferred for many reasons. YMMV/HYOH

I just got mine and really liking it. I had the width widened because I still do some tent camping.

I have two burrows a winter and summer and although I've never tent camped with it I absolutly love them. And just for a refrence I'm 6 ft 200pds and have broad shoulders and the standard burrow stays nice and tightly tucked under my shoulders. Also like all the vendors here are super helpful and I'm sure if you contact stormcrow (Adam) hell be able he'll be able to help you out.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

As Dblcorona stated, you may want to have it widened a bit if you plan to use it for tenting also. Quilts are made for tenters, specifically, also and they are all a bit wider than the hammock versions. Such width is not necessary for a hammock because the sides come up to meet the quilt.

How many pairs of underwear do you own? Do you refer to them as "extras", simply because you're not wearing all of them as we speak?

Thanks for all the great responses. It sounds like this would be "workable". I did send Adam a message and he too offered up that I may want to consider a wider customization. I've followed up to inquire as to how much wider. I like the idea of using the footboox, regardless of my shelter: my feet get cold first.
