Defeeted by the Superior Hiking Trail

The Willard Munger trail website map: http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/maps/st...ard_munger.pdf
shows campsites, but they don't appear to be 'on' the trail. Are these commercial campsites?

I've been looking at rail-trails and another rail-trail in MN only has commercial sites along its route. Stealthing along that route was expressly prohibited.
Nothing on the Willard Munger trail website says either way about camping.
Were the areas that you camped in state forests or other publicly owned land? Are there any regulations?

I was in MN last month but couldn't go camping/hanging. I flew in the day after the 11" rainstorm in southern mn (Blue Earth!). My grandmother saw places flooded that she never saw flooded in her 100years.

I'm not sure what I did but I think the pics are working now. I love to hang on a hill just cause I can.
I'm guessing the campsites on the map are indeed commercial. The pic of the shelter was the only camp site I saw along the Munger. I'm not even sure if camping is allowed there. I figure if there are no no trespassing signs and I LNT, most people won't mind some one spending the night on their back 40.

Great report! I feel you on the footwear. I chose the new army desert boots for my main shoes on my Boundary Waters trip. NO ankle support and waterlogged very easy.

What kind of dog is that? It looks like a blackmouth cur except for the ears.

That was one of my favorite hanging spots. Heres a couple more pix of it.

I'm not sure what my dog is, he was a pound puppy. Most guesses are german shepherd great dane mix. I've never heard of a black mouth cur before but I looked them up and can see some resemblance.

Not defeated unless you give it up , I gave up 5 miles into a 75 mile hike when I first started hiking I was carrying a 75 lb pack whooped my butt. I got lighter weight gear and looked at it as a learning experience and not a failure keep on trucking my friend

Take a look at Carnatha blackmouth curs, he looks very similar. Whatever he is he's nice looking and I bet you don't get many critters wandering underneath you with him posting guard!
